OK listen!

I am doing a potentially really cool documentary type thing for a class final.
In our class one of the things we're doing is looking at the impact of technology on society and ultimately how we're getting sucked into things like Second Life, second "lives" on the internet, "reality" television, etc.

Anyway, I wanna do my own little project involving the queer community of course. Since we're focusing on the internet and media, I thought it would interesting to pose my question by means of the internet, and ask people to create a video response. I will then compile things together into one video and hopefully it will turn out really cool.

So I'm looking for people to create their own little youtube video, and send me the link. Talk about how you think the internet helps or hinders the expression of queer identity. Talk about coming out via the internet. Talk about hooking up over the internet. Talk about queer internet community. Talk about whatever you want involving queerness and the internet. Be creative. Go on forever or just give me a minute or two of your insight. If you wanna talk about something in particular but aren't sure it's what I'm looking for just message me and run it by. I'm not looking for anything specific though, I'm just really excited to see what comes. I'll be posing this challenge to not online my friends but to other queer internet spaces in hopes to get responses from all kinds of people all over. I'll let you see the finished result if I can get your help!

Are you in? Say yes please!
28th-Jan-2009 07:55 pm - Research call for FTMs/MTMs
Hello. I am working on the final stages of recruiting for my master's thesis. I will be presenting the data at APA (American Psychological Association) this summer and, if WPATH accepts me, I'll present there as well. Over 400 FTMs have participated so far and I am aiming for 500. Thanks!

Are you 18 or older? Do you currently identify as a female-to-male transgender or transsexual, or have identified as FTM in the past and now identify as male?
A self-identified transgender male, Stacey Colt Meier, is conducting a research study on persons who identify as transgender men. He is a doctoral student at the University of Houston and the results from this study will be used for his Master’s Thesis. The purpose of this research is to help inform clinicians about transgender males.
In order to qualify for this study you must be at least 18 years old. You do not need to be on hormones or have already had surgery to participate.
The study consists of an online questionnaire, which should take approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete. The questions will assess basic demographic information as well as your mood over the last week, as well as your personal transitioning plans and experiences. You must read and agree to the consent form before filling out the survey. This study has been reviewed by the Committee for Protecting Human Subjects at the University of Houston.
If you complete the full survey, you can choose to be entered into a lottery for a chance to win $250 and ten chances to win $100. Click the link below to access the survey.

Hey everyone,

A very happy new year to you all!

My name is Imogen, I live in Cambridge UK. I was born female and am happy with my body but consider my self Gender Queer. I came out as gay at 14 (nearly wrote 144!!) and have been with my partner for a number of years now.

I am a photography student in Cambridge and I am just about to go into the final term of my 3rd year. I have covered quite a few topics over the last three years including self harm, mental health, eating disorders and physical disability. You can see some of my work here: Flickr or my own web site here: Indigo Clouds Photography

This term I want to do a project surrounding 'Gender Queer' and 'Transsexuality'. So I am looking for people who might want to be involved in the project. I will be hoping to photograph a few aspects of the topic including things like: following someone through aspects of their transition, photographing people with their families, following people to Dr's appointments, visiting and photographing both home & work, doing some studio shots (including partners, with/with out make up, in underwear etc) .. For helping me out you would get a copy of your images on a disk, a copy of your favorite 5 printed up to A2 and many many thank yous from me!

Having dealt with subjects that are often unknown to family members or friends I am more than happy for people to remain anonymous. As you can see from my self harm images most participants don't have their face in the images. I would like for some of those who wish to take part to be able to have their face in the images, purely due to the nature of the project.

I don't have any money to pay those who take part but I could help with travel costs if people are on a low income and I am more than happy to provide accommodation in the form of the sofa in my front room!

Please feel free to contact me with questions, anything you might like to know. Also, feel free to pass this post onto friends who might not see it on LJ or even to other communities. I would also like people to take part in a survey that will be part of the final project so if you would like to receive that you can get in touch.

Finally, during previous projects people have contacted me suggesting that aspects of the project might be highlighting the 'wrong' parts of the issues. I warmly welcome this contact and can only understand the subject to a point with out this source of information.

Thank you for reading,
Kind Regards,

During the inauguration kick off party at the Lincoln Memorial, openly gay Bishop Gene Robinson of the Diocese of NH gave the opening prayer.

The problem is it was not televised by HBO or NPR and there were 'technical difficulties' making it nearly impossible for the crowd of 500,000 to hear a word.

Demand to know why Bishop Robinson was part of the "pre-show" and therefore not taped.

Little People like LGBT people are considered "freaks of nature", they get stares and people misunderstand them. In looking for resources for Little LGBT People, I found virtually nothing. I decided, to make an entry to educate people about little people as well as provide as much info as I can for LGBT Little People. It is my sincere hope that LGBT Little People can find solace, comfort and community and that they can begin to network and build a foundation and support system for their own sub-section of the community.

Thank you!

The study needs a larger number of participants sooner rather than later - thanks for your time!

In response to a Bob Barr for president blog entry that stated that John McCain is possibly bipolar when it comes to the issues.

I responded asking if Bob Barr was bipolar and discussed his former position against same-sex marriage for gays and lesbians. Well apparently the Bob Barr site doesn't like the words, "sex", "gay", or "lesbian".

Not surprisingly "queer" made it through, although since this post they now banned that word as well.

Here is how the text showed up before moderator approval (Since that time the post has not been authorized and has been deleted).

You voted for the “defense of marriage act” to ban same-*** marriage equality throughout the country, and now say marriage is a states issue and nobody has the right to discriminate. You tried so hard to discriminate against *** and ******* couples. You will never get my vote, to me you are a bigot, plain and simple.
